About Grayling

In so many stories about fantasy worlds, the protagonist encounters some ancient gods who have been locked away for zillions of years, and possess incredible wisdom. They are usually reserved, grave, dignified, and powerful. They point the protagonist in the right direction and aid him in every way they can, which is usually not so very much. They vaguely recall massive wars and squabbles with each other that stretched over hundreds of years and impacted the lives of mortals worldwide. Their histories, and their motives, are mysterious.

Grayling is a story about a few such gods and how they got that way.

It transpires in a world called Faidia.

Content Warnings

Grayling contains adult themes and concepts as well as imagery and is recommended to readers who are 13+ years old. The comic depicts abusive situations and contains abusive language including slurs. While this comic isn't exactly a "misery porn" where unpleasant things are shown in agonizing detail, it's still one of the central topics of the narrative. If these kinds of serious topics are too upsetting, reading Grayling is not recommended.

About the Author

I go by Arby & I live in New Mexico, USA. I have a BA in English. I'm married to two ladies, Mina and Bea. We have 4 cats: Roderick, Gio, & Kushinada. My interests include Final Fantasy, Okami, Secret of Mana, Animal Crossing, Bloodborne, Better Call Saul, dinosaurs, Muppets, embroidery, and a bunch of other things. I'm poor and I work a full time job; art is only ever been a hobby for me though I wish I could do it all the time.

I got started on the internet making cyberpets in the late 90s, and went on to making a webcomic in 2002. I finished the first version/draft of Grayling in 2008, and then restarted the comic a couple years later. Grayling will end after 10 books, and then may continue the story in a second series.
